The promotion staging Dillon Danis’ return to MMA won’t be honoring any lifetime bans as they confirmed he will be fighting next month in Dubai.

Prior to the brawl at UFC 322 on Saturday night that saw him barred from attending any future events by Dana White, Danis had announced he will be fighting Anthony Taylor for the Misfits MMA title. The bout will serve as co-main event to a boxing card headlined by Andrew Tate’s return to fighting.

The scenes at Madison Square Garden are a rarity for the UFC, but not so much at Misfits Boxing events where there are regularly brawls in the crowd by people desperate to be offered a fight in the ring. And Danis was swiftly barred from future UFC events after the incident.

Misfits MMA release first statement after Dillon Danis’ UFC ban

Following the incident at Madison Square Garden, Misfits Boxing have been quick to confirm that Dillon Danis is very much still fighting in his first title defence.

He now competes in MMA bouts inside the boxing ring, and will take on a much sterner challenge against Taylor than the man he won the belt from; Warren Spencer. The American is 7-5 in MMA and was on a five-fight winning streak before switching over to boxing, where he has some memorable wins.

A statement from Misfits on social media today read: “Following the altercation at UFC 322 between Dillon Danis and members of Islam Makhachev’s team, Misfits Boxing can confirm that Dillon Danis remains welcome at all Misfits events moving forward.”

Danis has not been shy about reposting messages of support after the incident on Instagram and X. However, he has yet to actually make a statement of his own regarding what exactly happened between he and Makhachev’s team.
