ONE Bantamweight MMA World Champion Fabricio Andrade is calling out for his next contender to step up to the plate. There are many opponents for the Brazilian king to choose from. However, he has his eye on a certain Mongolian dark horse.

“Wonder Boy” was last in action at ONE 170 this past January. There, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Impact Arena, he dispatched old foe Kwon Won Il inside 60 seconds to retain his gold. Ever since that day, he’s been waiting for a new challenge to emerge.

Fabricio Andrade Keen on Fighting Baatarkhuu

But if they won’t come to him, Fabricio Andrade is willing to go to them. More specifically, he’s been impressed with #4-ranked bantamweight MMA contender Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu. “The Tormentor” has rattled off impressive wins over Aaron Canarte, Carlo Bumina-ang,  and Jeremy Pacatiw.

Baatarkhuu has puzzled his adversaries with his overpowering grappling game. He’s made a habit of forcing them to succumb to his output on multiple occasions, and that’s the kind of test Fabricio Andrade wants to go up against.

“Mongolian Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu, who just beat Jeremy Pacatiw, is a very experienced MMA fighter. He is coming off three straight wins and has fought in the top division, so he is a guy with a lot of experience,” Fabricio Andrade said.

“He is a strong guy with a very good grappling game. He is a guy who could definitely be a challenge for me in grappling.”

Fabricio Andrade Not Enthused by Prospect of Double Champ Status

It’s very much the norm in today’s sports world to venture away from your division to become a two-weight king. Admittedly, Fabricio Andrade cannot say the thought hasn’t entered his mind. The Brazilian wants to be as busy as possible.

However, it’s not something that appeals to him presently. That often holds up divisions while a champion recovers. So it’s not something Fabricio Andrade is willing to do.

With surging contenders knocking at his door in the form of Baatarkhuu and Stephen Loman, “Wonder Boy” promises to be a fighting champion. Ruling over the bantamweight MMA division is his main motivation, and he plans to rule the roost for as long as possible.

Andrade Entertaining Idea of Switching Divisions

“Yes, I’ve thought about moving up a weight class. Of course, it’s not an easy decision. I like to challenge myself, and that would be a great challenge, but there are many things that influence a decision like that,” he said.

“Right now, it’s more interesting for me to stay in my weight class and continue defending my belt.”
