Fans Urged To 'Celebrate' Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz Boxing Fight As It Is A Result Of Them 'Not Being Set' Financially Despite UFC Careers
CLIFFORD OTO/THE STOCKTON RECORD / USA TODAY NETWORK

Former UFC heavyweight fighter Brendan Schaub recently gave a positive take on the upcoming rematch between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz.

Back at UFC 244, "Gamebred" and Diaz collided as fan favorites in the main event. Masvidal came out victorious after three rounds of action, when severe cut sustained to Diaz's eyebrow led to the doctor stopping the fight.

Now, almost five years later, the pair are finally set to meet again. This time, however, the MMA box office stars will throw down in a boxing ring instead of the Octagon.

'These Guys Have Figured Out A Lane' - Schaub Defends Masvidal/Diaz 2

In a recent video uploaded to his Extra Thiccc YouTube channel, Brendan Schaub encouraged fans to be more positive about MMA competitors doing crossover fights.

The occasional stand-up comedian explained that many mixed martial artists need to take on these additional clashes due to simply not earning enough in the UFC.

"You gotta realize, whether you like the fight or not, you should be celebrating it, not hating on it," Schaub said. "Because this is a after-effect, this a butterfly effect, that these guys have to make these choices when they're retired or they're longer in the tooth because they're not set financially. So what Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal are doing is the result of them not being set for being superstars in the UFC."

"Big Brown" further elaborated that regardless of the result of crossover fights with the likes of Jake Paul, fans should stay positive.

In the case of Masvidal and Diaz's upcoming bout, Schaub noted that they've found a new way to make money through their UFC notoriety.

"So when you see a Nate Diaz/Jake Paul fight," Schaub said. "No matter what the outcome, you should celebrate it. When you see a Jorge Masvidal/Nate Diaz fight, you should be celebrating it because these guys have figured out a lane, whether you like it or not, they figured out a lane where they can capitalize on the fame they've had from the UFC, and monetarily make money."
