One of the few men to have a win over Jon Jones is open to running it back with him.
Jones has recently re-ignited his feud with Daniel Cormier after claiming that he was willing to bury the hatchet with his former opponent.
‘DC’ has since revealed that he was convinced to coach against his greatest rival on the new season of ‘ALF Reality’ due to him being challenged to do so.
The competitive nature between the two former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champions even led to Cormier agreeing to box Jones during an argument they had during the filming process.
A ruleset that feels far more likely to put together a trilogy match between them has attracted several athletes who made their names in MMA, including one who has history with ‘Bones’.
Real American Freestyle’s co-founder Chad Bronstein recently teased the chances of Jon Jones facing Daniel Cormier in a wrestling match.
While it would take a lot of money to get both men to sign on the dotted line, the rivalry that still burns inside both men could motivate it to happen.
‘Bones’ would be giving the man that he beat at UFC 182 the opportunity to finally get some revenge by recording a victory over him.
Another ex-UFC athlete is open to the idea of extending the same offer to Jones, having defeated him twice in high school wrestling.
Matt Riddle hasn’t fought since 2014, with his final win inside the Octagon coming at UFC 154 over John Maguire several years before he fully transitioned to professional wrestling and made his way to the WWE.
Riddle recently told The Schmo while in attendance at RAF05 that he’d lock up with Jones again even if he’s not at all confident in his chances of winning.
“Hey, if they want to book it, they can. Jon Jones is going to probably smoke my a– but at the same time, never say never and that’s what fighters have in their hearts.”
Real American Freestyle has been able to generate interest by bringing current and former UFC fighters into the promotion.
The two promotions appear to have a strong working relationship, which has been massively beneficial for RAF thus far.
However, the UFC have enforced certain barriers in the past when it comes to athletes on their roster wanting to compete against certain names.
Given Matt Riddle’s prior disputes with Dana White since he left the promotion, it seems unlikely that they’d want the consensus greatest of all time to square off with him.
