Francis Ngannou parted ways with the UFC in January of 2023 following a rocky relationship.
Since leaving the promotion, Ngannou has been critical of some of the things that Dana White has said about him.
The UFC president has previously stated that he wanted to cut the former champion and believes that his public perception isn’t a fair reflection of what he is like to work with.
In a recent interview, White shared a story of Ngannou grabbing hold of him during a meeting they had in his office where the fighter was upset to have not received a post-fight bonus.
A former member of UFC staff recently explained why he “100% believes” this story.
It’s been no secret since he left the UFC that Dana White doesn’t think highly of Francis Ngannou and has no desire to work with him again in the future.
Some have suggested, including the UFC president, that the PFL is likely encountering similar issues with Ngannou since he signed to them in May of 2023.
After White’s appearance on the Flagrant podcast where he detailed how both he and the UFC’s Chief Business Officer, Hunter Campbell, had both been involved in physical altercations with Ngannou, another story appeared.
Anthony Evans previously worked as the head of PR at the UFC and the content chief for UFC Fight Pass before going on to other roles like co-writing Michael Bisping’s ‘Quitters Never Win’.
Evans shared the following post on social media before going on to elaborate further.
“I hadn’t heard this story before; I believe it 100%. Francis was a terror at the UFC office when I worked there. He’d show up over and over, walk around the offices, standing over people’s desks and making staff very uncomfortable.
“Now, some of it was he is a huge man from a different culture speaking English as a (third?) language. And there is such a thing as being pro-active. And there’s also bullying. He struck me as a bully.”

When one response asked for specific stories, Evans went on to explain that while he never saw Ngannou get physical with a member of UFC staff, he still questioned his behaviour.
“It’s 8yrs or so, so some of the specifics are hazy but one I witnessed myself was him standing over one of the women who designed UFC key art and wanting changes. Don’t misunderstand, nothing like putting his hands on anyone, but he’s a big scary dude and he had no business standing over people’s desks telling them what he wanted. Almost all fighters are their worst selves fight week – the pressure, the weight cut etc. Francis was unreal obnoxious to people just doing their jobs.”

Despite only competing once for the promotion since signing with them in May of 2023, Francis Ngannou remains a huge asset for the PFL.
However, in August, PFL chairman Donn Davis admitted he was “disappointed” after the former UFC heavyweight champion didn’t attend their event in Africa.
Ngannou explained that he wasn’t happy with the way the event came together, suggesting that there was friction between the two parties.
A video posted by Ngannou the following month seemingly settled this issue as he promoted the promotion’s event that took place on October 18.
