Jon Jones against Francis Ngannou remains one of the biggest fights that never happened in UFC history.
There was constant speculation about them meeting for the belt, but Ngannou left the UFC and signed with the PFL in 2023.
Jones moved up to heavyweight that same year, and now they are set to meet at another promotion’s event, just not inside the cage.
Ngannou was asked at a press conference before the Ronda Rousey vs Gina Carano card about Jones joining MVP’s broadcast team for next Saturday’s Netflix event.
‘Bones’ will appear alongside Cain Velasquez and other former UFC names, creating an unusual crossover moment around the inaugural MVP MMA card.
“It’s going to be great, very interesting to have Jon Jones in the same arena, watching it,” he began by saying (via MMA Fighting).
“I have a lot of respect for Cain after what he did. I fought him in the past as well, I respect him as an opponent.”

“But, from Jon Jones’ standpoint, it’s very interesting to see how it’s going to be.”
Ngannou’s words were measured but his face did not hide that he knows that Jones’ presence will only revive talk around the fight fans never received.
Ngannou previously hinted that a Jones fight could happen on an MVP card if the former UFC two-weight champion left the promotion.
That possibility gained attention after Jones’ feud with Dana White around the White House card, but the situation remains complicated.
The UFC is not expected to make Jones free, partly because it could strengthen a rival promotion. Even if Jones never fights there again, a bout against Ngannou remains unlikely.
