Glover Teixeira's first attempt at defending his light heavyweight belt will come against fast-rising star Jiří Procházka at UFC 274 on May 7, according to Brett Okamoto of ESPN.
Teixeira, 42, won the title with an upset, submission victory over Jan Blachowicz in October. The win for the Brazilian was his sixth consecutive victory with his last loss coming in July 2018.
Procházka, 29, has fought only twice in the UFC, making his ascension to a title shot in his third fight one of the fastest climbs in the history of the promotion. The Czech's first two fights in the Octagon ended with devastating knockouts of Volkan Oezdemir and Dominick Reyes, who are both ranked in the top 10 of the division. Before signing with the UFC, Procházka was the champion of Japan-based promotion, Rizin.
