GoFundMe Launched For Mark Coleman As The UFC Great Battles For His Life After House Fire
Dustin Safranek-USA TODAY Sports

UFC legend Mark Coleman is currently in intensive care after heroically rescuing his parents from a burning house in Fremont, Ohio.

After getting his parents out of harm's way, Coleman returned to the fire in an attempt to save his dog as well. Shortly thereafter, the roof of the blazing home collapsed, It is believed that the dog initially woke Coleman, alerting him to the fire. Unfortunately, the canine did not make it.

Coleman was later airlifted to hospital, where he is currently intubated and sedated. For now, the extent of his injuries has not been made public, although he's reportedly in a critical condition.

Right now, Coleman is in need of everyone's support as he deals with life-threatening damage. His two grown-up daughters are reportedly staying by his side at all times in the hospital. Needless to say, US healthcare is not cheap, which is why Coleman's family have set up a GoFundMe.

The GoFundMe will not only help with Coleman's living expenses and welfare, but also with his family in this trying time. His daughters are currently not working in order to stay with their father and support the rest of the family during this difficult time.

Mark Coleman Was The First-Ever UFC Heavyweight Champion

At UFC 12, all the way back in February 1997, Mark Coleman got his hands on the inaugural UFC heavyweight championship.

He did so by picking up a first-round submission win over fellow MMA legend Dan Severn. Coleman extracted the tap at the 2:57 mark with a scarf-hold.

A pivotal figure in the early days of UFC, as well as famed Japanese promotion Pride FC, Coleman duked it out with many of the top dogs of his day.

These ranged seminal American MMA fighters such as Don Frye, to famed kickboxers like Gary Goodridge, and even MMA fighters-turned-NJPW-wrestlers such as Nobuhiko Takada, and Kazuyuki Fujita.
