'He sees Conor McGregor and gets excited,' Michael ‘Venom’ Page EXPOSES Ian Garry for lying about not accepting contract
Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

Ian Garry came into the UFC as an undefeated Cage Warriors welterweight champion. Idolizing Conor McGregor , Garry’s brash persona attracted hate from fight fans. He was to fight Colby Covington at UFC 303, but it didn’t materialize. Moreover, he recently stated several welterweights, including Michael Venom Page, refused to fight him. Page recently came forward to call Garry out on the lie.

Page had called out Garry after he defeated Kevin Holland on his debut. However, Garry refused, citing his position as a higher-ranked fighter. After Colby Covington was out of the fight for unknown reasons, Garry was okay with taking on all comers. Moreover, he even stated that Sean Brady, Joaquin Buckley , and Venom Page have not accepted a fight with him. However, Page recently said in a Sky Sports interview that this is not the case.

Colby's [Covington] got some kind of issue... They're like, you know, 'Would you still want to take the fight?' I'm like, 'Yeah, yeah, let's put it on the UK card cause it just makes sense, you know?' So I was like, 'Yeah,' and straight away accepted... I don't mind. I'm just saying it made more sense for the UK. He's Irish, I'm English—on the UK card...I think he likes to just, you know, hang on the back of people's coattails. So he sees Conor McGregor and gets excited. Michael Venom Page via Sky Sports

Page’s version contradicts what Garry had earlier stated. Moreover, like Garry, Page has no insistence to be on a Conor McGregor PPV. Furthermore, the striker claimed he always turned eyeballs when he fought and didn’t need a superstar to cling on.

Page is awaiting the call from the UFC on his potential fight against Garry. Even though he doesn’t like Garry’s personality, Page respects the Irishman as a fighter. After all, Garry is an undefeated fighter in the top 10 of the UFC’s welterweight rankings.

Michael Venom Page speaks on Ian Garry as a fighter

Michael Venom Page is one of the most dynamic fighters in the UFC. Page rose to fame with Bellator where he scored several spectacular knockouts. He had destroyed Evangelista Santos‘ skull with a flying knee, and he ruptured Goiti Yamauchi‘s Patellar tendon with a leg kick.

In his recent interview with Sky Sports, Page revealed he will likely face Ian Garry next. Moreover, he didn’t have nice things to say about Garry’s character and persona. However, Page didn’t say bad things when asked about Garry as a fighter.

I think he's [Ian Garry] talented, man. He's definitely got talent in certain things that I see I could potentially exploit. But I think he's talented; I think he's doing really well. He's got a nice traditional style that works for his body frame. He's nice and long. There's nothing wow about his fighting, but I can see that he understands combat well enough to keep his form when he's moving. Michael Venom Page via Sky Sports

Page stated Garry faced trouble in some of his fights in the UFC. He pointed out Garry’s Geoff Neal fight as an example of Garry having problems as he was on his back foot. Nonetheless, according to Page, Garry doesn’t have a style he has never seen before.
