Less than 24 hours after being ejected from the UFC White House press conference, Josh Hokit found himself in another altercation. this time with light heavyweight Paulo Costa in the crowd.
The two began exchanging words before closing the distance at which point security intervened before anything physical could develop. As police and security pulled Costa away, Hokit flipped him off and continued shouting across the crowd. Costa kept his composure throughout.
Just a day before, Hokit interrupted Alex Pereira's translator and began directing verbal shots at the former two-division champion. When Ilia Topuria stepped in to defend Pereira, the two had to be physically separated by security.
The context behind Hokit's behaviour is not difficult to read. He took a significant step up the rankings with a win over Curtis Blaydes at UFC 327 and is now booked to face Derrick Lewis at the White House card in July — a fight that will tell a great deal about where he sits among the division's elite.
