Compared to her recent fights, former bantamweight queen Holy Holm has increased excitement for her return against the debuting Kayla Harrison at UFC 300.

Following the crowning of a new titleholder at 135 pounds earlier this month in Toronto, Holm will look to add her name into the championship mix soon enough.

She'll have the chance to do so at a marquee event and against a major name, with "The Preacher's Daughter" tasked with welcoming former two-time PFL champ and Olympic gold medalist Harrison to the sport's biggest stage.

While she's not necessarily lacked motivation in recent times, Holm has admitted that a date in the cage with Harrison at UFC 300 brings with it a "different feeling."

Holm: Harrison Fight At UFC 300 Could Be 'Epic'

During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, Holm looked ahead to her clash with Harrison on April 13, which comes nine months on from her submission setback (later overturned to a No Contest) against Mayra Bueno Silva.

With the chance to move closer to the gold she once formerly held against a newcomer like Harrison, Holm isn't short on hunger leading into UFC 300.

"I'm excited for this fight, really excited," Holm said. "I think what it is is being such an underdog gets you like — I don't know, there's just a different feeling with it. And that's just kind of how I feel about this fight. It's kind of intrigued me. It's a different fight.

"Maybe because it's also not anybody that has been in the UFC. Your mind is like, on all these other people, so when this came in, it's just a new journey, a new page, a new fighter... This could be one of those epic fights in history," Holm added.

Holm will likely take to the cage as a sizable underdog come fight night, and that's despite concern over Harrison's first cut down to the 136-pound non-title fight bantamweight limit .

Nevertheless, "The Preacher's Daughter" is no stranger to pulling off major upsets.
