In January 2025, former UFC women's bantamweight champion Holly Holm requested to be released from the fight promotion to return to boxing. The UFC granted her request and she defeated Yolanda Vega in her return to the ring five moths later.

Before becoming the UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Holm was a world class boxer and multiple-time world champion. Following the win over Vega “The Preacher’s Daughter” was lined up to face WBA lightweight champion Stephanie Han. The bout was stopped in the seventh round due to a cut from an accidental clash of heads. After checking the cut, the ringside doctor called a halt to the match. At the time, Han was well ahead on the scorecards.

Holm called for a rematch and was granted one. She and Han will run it back on May 30 in El Paso, Texas and Holm looks to be in incredible shape for the rematch.
