Portalizing UFC figure Ian “The Future” Machado Garry claims that his fellow weightclassman and undefeated welterweight prospect Michael Morales is ducking him, despite Garry having reportedly accepted a main event spot against him.
It’s not known for sure if this is the case, but we do have these screenshots posted two weeks ago by Morales that loosely support Ian’s version of events

We also have this video taken after Ian’s fight against Islam, where he confronts Morales over the alleged lies and the post the Ecuadorian made, shown up above.
Garry says that despite all the talk back and forth and the public posturing from Morales including that post, he has yet to accept the main event fight against Garry, and that behind the scenes, Garry is getting a quote “different message”.
Morales hasn’t publicly responded to this post, but did post a promotional video titled “Who’s next?”, where he stoked the flames for his next fight, calling out Shavkat Rakhmonov, Islam Makhachev, and Carlos Prates, while seemingly waving off Ian Garry at the end, keeping it brief with a “F*** you”.
The fight makes a lot of sense.
Morales could do with one more fight before getting to the title and looking back at his last five, while a 3 TKO streak is impressive, the most impressive win he’s had thus far is Sean Brady.
Does the UFC book Morales against a guy with much stronger strength of schedule coming off a title shot for an eliminator?
That depends on if they believe he’s ready and what they want to do with both fighters.
The UFC will sometimes feed a high profile title contender who just came off a championship loss to high level guys rising up the ranks, to make compelling fights and move things around in the division.
And business wise, it would make more sense to book Prates vs Islam for the belt right now then it would Islam vs. Morales.
It’s most likely the UFC is in talks with Machado Garry about setting up the fight, and in turn Morales is trying to make the smartest play possible when picking his next opponent.
It seems though, that he may be scheming a bit TOO much while trying to position himself in a lucrative next fight, that he’s missing a great and difficult test in front of him, Ian Machado Garry, or other potential fun fights that would give him that extra bit of credibility in the division.
