Dillon Danis stole headlines with another cageside brawl.

UFC 229 concluded with Khabib Nurmagomedov starting a brawl by attacking Danis in the corner of Conor McGregor. Seven years later, the Dagestani team finally got their payback while supporting Islam Makhachev in New York City.

The focus during Saturday’s UFC 322 pay-per-view at Madison Square Garden was temporarily turned to the crowd when a multi-person melee broke out. Danis was unsurprisingly at the center of things, with his longtime rivalry with the Nurmagomedov team coming back to haunt him.

Footage online has shown the likes of Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Magomed Zaynukov, better known to fans as ‘John Pork’, getting shots in at Danis during the wild brawl, which was eventually stopped by security and police.

Reacting to the moment during his press conference, Dana White said Danis is banned from events held by the UFC moving forward.

Islam Makhachev jokes that Dillon Danis’ ban after UFC 322 should go a big step further

A lifetime UFC ban is not sufficient in the eyes of Islam Makhachev.

The Dagestani contingent involved in the brawl were at MSG to support the former lightweight king as he successfully attempted to become a two-division champion at UFC 322. But they had to watch Makhachev’s dominance against Jack Della Maddalena from the hotel after what transpired cageside earlier in the night.

Following his title victory, Makhachev gave his reaction to Danis’ brawl with his fellow countrymen and teammates. He went a sizable step further than White with his suggested punishment for the ex-Bellator fighter.

“When you talk about someone like (the) last five years…when you meet them, you have to answer (for) what you said, you know? Today, I don’t think he answered.

“He’s still saying a lot of bad things about our team. Today, he was coming and somebody just meet him. He talked about these guys bad, and today they meet him.

“He has to (be) banned from this country also,” he added when asked about White removing Danis’ access to future UFC events.

Islam Makhachev sent a message to President Donald Trump at UFC 322

Makhachev had some words for United States President Donald Trump inside the Octagon at UFC 322, but it did not surround his wish to get Danis deported…

While he had not been among the likes of Jon Jones and Conor McGregor in vocally staking a claim to a spot on the White House card next June, that changed moments after Makhachev achieved two-division glory.

“Donald Trump, let’s go, open the White House. I am coming,” Makhachev said.

Who should Islam Makhachev fight next?

Dana White left the door open for Makhachev’s wish, insisting during his post-fight press conference that the aim is to put on the biggest fights regardless of nationality, rather than showcasing Americans.

With that in mind, talk has turned to the possibility of a superfight between the newly crowned welterweight king and his lightweight successor, Ilia Topuria.

While Makhachev wants to fight Kamaru Usman next, there appears to be the most appetite for a clash between the Dagestani and the Spanish star in 2026.
