Israel Adesanya thinks Alex Pereira should stick around at light heavyweight and put his belt on the line a few more times.
Pereira wasted no time in talking about a jump to heavyweight right after reclaiming the 205lb title on Saturday night.
The Brazilian only needed 80 seconds to finish Magomed Ankalaev in the UFC 320 main event.
It was a quick turnaround from their last meeting, where Ankalaev had won by decision back at UFC 313 earlier in the year.
After Pereira’s win at UFC 320, Adesanya’s reaction quickly made the rounds on social media.
Once he finished congratulating his longtime rival, the 36-year-old turned his attention to what could come next for ‘Poatan’.
“What do you wanna see next, 205 or heavyweight?” someone off-camera asked ‘The Last Stylebender’.
He answered by suggesting that his City Kickboxing teammate Carlos Ulberg should get the next shot at Pereira.
“I think [Car]los vs Alex. I like that, that should be next.”
Pereira paused to pay his respects to Jon Jones’ late brother during UFC 320.
The Brazilian revealed afterwards that he had planned to call out Jones, but changed his mind after hearing about the passing of Arthur Jones, who died aged 39 on Friday.
When asked about potential heavyweight opponents like Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane, Pereira dismissed the idea in favour of a more high-profile bout.
“No,” he responded when questioned about facing the winner of the UFC 321 main event.
“I want a super fight. It would be at the White House, against Jon Jones. That’s a super fight.”
