Jamahal Hill sheds light on Alex Pereira confrontation at UFC PI

Jamahal Hill collided with Alex Pereira at the UFC PI earlier today and has released a post-incident statement to address exactly what happened.

Despite their careers going in different directions, Hill and Pereira have been tangled in a two-year feud that continues to escalate. Words have been exchanged on either side and they have competed inside the octagon against one another, but their war has persisted.

Eight months after their headlining bout at UFC 300, Jamahal Hill and Alex Pereira got into a heated confrontation at the UFC Performance Insitute.

Shortly after their altercation, Hill revealed what happened in a video online.

"So, I was at the PI earlier and Alex was there," Hill said. "I had just finished working out, he was [still] working out."

"I just went to go up and have a conversation, you know, ask him what [we're] on. Since we don't have to talk about it across Twitter because I'm right here."

"Initially, when I went up to him, it was smooth. It was like, don't run to heavyweight, I'm [going to] go ahead and handle business, and then we can run this back. We need to run it back."

Jamahal Hill has been pushing for a rematch with the UFC light heavyweight champion since suffering a knockout loss in their meeting.

"He said something to his translator and his translator said, 'You're still sleeping, you still [haven't] woke up.' I'm wide awake now, you can get put to sleep for real."

"Then it kind of went to a whole fake ass 'come get the gloves and go in the cage' [to] which I replied, 'What the f*** we need gloves for?'"

"I get paid to put on gloves and fight. When I'm out in a situation like that, we can throw hands right now. I'm not [going to] wait, take time, and put no gloves on or none of that sh*t, we can just throw hands right now."

Hill later detailed why he didn't escalate things when he had the chance.

"Here's the thing, right; If I'd have just reached over and hit him then and we start fighting right there, I'd possibly lose out on [my next fight] and possibly any opportunities I have left."

"I got restrictions now at the PI and all these other things and stuff like that. So, we get paid. We made a lot of money the first time we fought."

"So, why would I not make a lot of money when I knock his ass out the next time?"

A win against Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311 next month could put Jamahal Hill in the running for a second shot at Alex Pereira's throne.
