Jiri Prochazka sends message to Alex Pereira as he continues to chase Jon Jones super fight

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka is still hopeful that he can secure a trilogy fight against Alex Pereira.

Just a few weeks ago, Jiri Prochazka scored his second third round knockout win in a row when he came from behind to face plant Khalil Rountree Jr at UFC 320.

With his win, ‘The Last Samurai’ maintained his position as the number one ranked light heavyweight contender, and he is hoping to secure a huge trilogy fight against Alex Pereira.

And a potential third clash against ‘Poatan’ means so much to the Czech fan favorite that when Pereira knocked out Magomed Ankalaev to reclaim his title, Prochazka got emotional.

Prochazka comments on potential Alex Pereira vs Jon Jones fight

Although the former champion is targeting another rematch against the Brazilian, Pereira made it clear that he is hoping to move up to heavyweight to take on the consensus greatest fighter of all time, Jon Jones, in his potential return to the sport.

Despite that, it is currently unclear whether ‘Bones’ will return and if he does whether the promotion will allow him to fight the light heavyweight champion.

Prochazka, though, believes that the UFC may block Pereira’s desired fight, and if the Brazilian wants to move up to heavyweight, he will need to vacate his title.

“Of course it’s a big possibility about this fight, but I don’t think the UFC will agree with that,” Prochazka told Bloody Elbow in an exclusive interview.

“And the second thing is, he is going to heavyweight so I think he needs to release the title or I don’t know, I really don’t care what will be his next move because like I said, I wanna fight for the title and right now, I don’t care if it will be Alex Pereira, (Carlos) Ulberg, or Ankalaev,” Prochazka continued.

Joe Rogan desperate for Pereira vs Jones clash

With Pereira reclaiming his title, he has once again reclaimed his spot as the biggest current star in the UFC, and a clash against Jones would undoubtedly be one of the biggest fights of 2026.

However, UFC icon Joe Rogan believes it would be the ‘biggest fight in human history’ and he has even pitched that the fight could be contested for a heavyweight ‘BMF’ title instead of there being no title implications.

With UFC boss Dana White having previously claimed that it’s a ‘billion to one’ chance that Jones competes on the UFC White House event, only time will tell whether both fighters get their desired fight.
