Joe Rogan believes he understands what sets Jon Jones apart from his competition inside the Octagon.

Former heavyweight and light heavyweight champion, ‘Bones’ is frequently mentioned in conversations about the greatest MMA fighters of all time.

During his career, Jones racked up a number of impressive achievements. He set the UFC record for most title fight wins with 16, earning victories over well-known names such as Daniel Cormier, Lyoto Machida, Chael Sonnen and Shogun Rua.

Very few fighters have managed to look comfortable against him in the cage. According to Rogan, there is a particular reason for that.

Joe Rogan praises Jon Jones’ fight IQ as his greatest strength

While talking to Gable Steveson, one of Jones’ up-and-coming prospects, on the Joe Rogan Experience, the UFC colour commentator took some time to reflect on what has made Jones so successful over his career.

Rogan made it clear that Jones does not have any real weaknesses, but he singled out fight intelligence as the factor that sets him apart from everyone else.

“Obviously he has everything. He obviously has all the skills, obviously has all the drive, and everything else. But the fight IQ is the big one.

“If you don’t have a good driver, who gives a f— how fast your car is?

“It is really the mind behind it that puts it all together,” he concluded.

Joe Rogan backs Jon Jones’ ambitious return plan

Having spent over 20 years calling fights from cageside, Rogan has seen every chapter of Jones’ career up close.

Rogan, having repeatedly seen the man he considers the greatest of all time perform at his peak, is now hoping he gets the farewell he desires inside the Octagon.

Dana White has shut down Jones’ comeback plans, labelling him too unpredictable to headline the White House event on June 14.

Rogan is still holding out hope that White reconsiders his decision.

“I would love to see him (Alex Pereira) fight Jon Jones at the White House,” Rogan said while discussing what he’d like to see on that card.

“Jon Jones vs. Pereira, for sure. Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler, that would be awesome. We want to have some fun – that’s a fun fight.”

He added: “And then you would probably want Islam Makhachev vs. Ilia Topuria, that would be insane.”
