Earlier this month, Joe Rogan was subject to some questionable abuse by global star Ronda Rousey. Despite the attack on his character, Rogan hailed Rousey as a legend of the sport.

'Rowdy' isn't known to mince her words when referencing somebody she doesn't like. That remained the case when Rogan's name was mentioned during her appearance on the Bertcast Podcast.

Ronda Rousey doesn't consider Joe Rogan a true mixed martial artist and insists his opinions on the sport are invalid.

Instead of biting back, Rogan reacted to the comments by heaping praise on the former UFC bantamweight queen. The color commentator and podcast host was adamant that women's MMA wouldn't have reached the heights it has without Rousey's time in the spotlight.

"She's a legend," Rogan said amid the comments made by Rousey. "I've got nothing but love and respect for that lady. What she did [in the sport] was so impressive."

"She was the first legitimate female superstar. She made the UFC female division possible. If it wasn't for her, Dana [White] was very open about never having female UFC fighters. It took someone that was that dynamic, that was that special, to open his eyes."

While many would hit back at Rousey for the unnecessary remarks, Joe Rogan instead justified her words.

"When she said I wasn't an expert, everyone's entitled to their own opinion. But, you've got to understand why she thinks like that, because she has a f***ing champion mentality..."

"I get it, it's totally fine."

Joe Rogan believes that, in her prime, Ronda Rousey was one of the greatest women to compete in the sport.

As it often does for many athletes and celebrities around the world, Rogan blames the level of fame Rousey achieved as a key factor in her downfall.

"When you start becoming really famous, then the hyenas show up," Rogan continued. "They start offering you this and start offering you that, and distracting you with this and distracting you with that."

"Now you're going to meetings and you're talking to agents and you're in movies, and you're doing this and you're doing that. All those things take away from the most important thing, which is your fighting."

"Even if they don't take away from the amount of training you do, they take away from your focus. They rob you of the bandwidth."

Amid the ongoing debate over Ronda Rousey's character, Joe Rogan has sided with her, calling her a good person.
