It’s already official that the UFC will be heading back to Manchester, England for a stacked UFC 304 PPV event at the new Co-Op Live venue. However, there have been rumblings about who will main event this PPV fight card. There have been some talks about Tom Aspinall potentially defending his interim title against Ciryl Gane or Curtis Blaydes. Now, the UFC’s play-by-play commentator Jon Anik has possibly leaked a Welterweight title fight that’s been long in the makings between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad for UFC 304.

This fight between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad has been in the making for quite some time now after their first encounter ended with an inadvertent eye poke which ended the fight in the second round via No Contest. Ever since that fight, Muhammad has gone on to win his next five fights in dominating fashion meanwhile, Edwards continued his torrid winning streak and captured the UFC Welterweight Championship with an emphatic head kick knockout of Usman and then defended it twice in a rematch against Usman and a unanimous decision victory over Colby Covington.

Jon Anik’s post lines up with Belal Muhammad’s recent post where he’s in Islam Makhachev’s training camp at Nick Catone MMA ahead of his fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 302.

Many have said that Leon Edwards is “ducking” Muhammad and it may have been seen so in his previous comments saying that he doesn’t deserve the next title shot. Edwards quickly nixed that calling Muhammad “the least intimidating person in the organisation” and he already told the UFC that he will fight him next.

It’s safe to assume that we are getting very close to finally having this welterweight title fight that we’ve been longing for since Leon Edwards became the champion after dispatching Karamu Usman. These are by far the two best welterweights on the UFC’s roster and Muhammad is the most deserving of a title shot with his nine-fight winning streak.

It certainly will be interesting to see which way the UFC goes with this UFC 304 fight card and whether or not they will have the welterweight title or the interim heavyweight title up for grabs in the UFC’s return to Manchester. Let’s take a look at the official fights for UFC 304 so far for this stacked PPV event:

  • Arnold Allen vs. Giga Chikadze
  • Muhammad Mokaev vs. Manel Kape
  • Nathaniel Wood vs. Daniel Pineda
