Seemingly unwilling to let his grudge with Tom Aspinall go just yet, former UFC star Jon Jones remains vocal regarding the Brit’s most recent venture to the cage.

Poking fun at current undisputed heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall in the immediate aftermath of his UFC 320 no contest clash with common foe Ciryl Gane, Jon Jones found the lighter side of the star’s eye poke fiasco.

And in the weeks since, the Rochester native has continued to play up vocal thoughts on Aspinall’s ability to fight through adversity during a bout compared to his.

So much so, the former pound-for-pound number one highlighted his own memorable in-cage injury during one of his numerous title defenses.

Jon Jones compares his gruesome toe injury to Tom Aspinall’s poke

Finally booking a title defense against former two-time title challenger Chael Sonnen in a highly anticipated pairing in 2013, Jones would emerge victorious, albeit not unscathed.

Putting his undisputed light heavyweight crown on the line, Jones would blast through WEC veteran Sonnen with a timely first-round knockout win to defend his title; however, he can count himself fortunate to have not been stopped.

Speaking with Joe Rogan post-fight, Jones noticed he had fractured his big toe during the bout, actually turning it upside down in one of the most memorable post-fight Octagon interviews.

And on social media, the former dual-weight champion compared Aspinall’s eye poke incident to his gruesome foot injury, reposting a fan-made edit.

Often boasting about a moral victory, Sonnen and some fans claimed the Oregon native was likely seconds away from a TKO win of his own over Jones if the first round had ended, with the official and Octagon-side doctor likely waving the fight off.

Jon Jones is all in on Alex Pereira clash

Accused time and time again of hanging up his gloves earlier this summer in a bid to avoid a title outing against Aspinall, Jones has now voiced his desire to welcome a new threat at heavyweight in a stunning comeback.

Itching to fight former two-weight champion Alex Pereira, Jones was the subject of a bizarre callout from the Brazilian knockout ace this week, with the light heavyweight champion keen to make his heavyweight bow at next summer’s UFC White House event.
