After announcing his retirement, Jon Jones’ retirement fanfare takes a hit. According to MMA Weekly, Jon Jones is facing criminal charges.
On Saturday, UFC CEO Dana White announced that Jones had relinquished his UFC title and officially announced Jones’ retirement from the sport after 17 years.
Shortly after the retirement announcement, a report began making its rounds that ‘Bones’ may be in legal trouble again.
Hours ago, it was being revealed that there is an ongoing misdemeanor charge against Jones, who reportedly fled the scene of an accident back in February.
“Jon Jones is facing [a] misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of an accident in February. “Police investigating a crash came across a woman in the front passenger seat of one of the cars, ‘exhibiting signs of significant intoxication and lacking clothing from the waist down.”
“The woman reportedly said Jones was the driver, but fled the scene on foot… When a police officer then talked to Jones and said, ‘allusions to violence’ were made.” [h/t TheMacLife].
Once the news spread, Jones took to social media to respond to the reports.
“Keep in mind, even the media can get it wrong sometimes if they don’t have all the facts,” Jones said.
Jones ended the statement saying, “Don’t believe everything you read online.”
