Jon Jones retires again after Dana White’s UFC White House snub: ‘No more fighter Jones’

Jon Jones has decided to quit fighting yet again after being unable to land a spot on the White House card this summer.

The legendary two-weight world champion is widely considered the greatest fighter of all time, and has held UFC gold at heavyweight and light-heavyweight. He has a loss on his record as a result of a dubious disqualification, but is for all intents and purposes undefeated after facing legends of multiple eras.

Jones made a major push to headline the UFC White House event on June 14, but was seemingly rebuked at every turn by Dana White. And he has now explained that his gloves are hung up for good after being unable to come to terms.

Jon Jones retires from fighting again after failing to land UFC White House spot

Last summer, Jon Jones made headlines when it was confirmed that he had decided to retire and give up the undisputed heavyweight title to Tom Aspinall without fighting him. His last octagon outing came in November of 2024 at UFC 309 when he knocked out divisional great Stipe Miocic.

However, that retirement lasted a matter of weeks before he learned of the UFC White House card for this summer. He instantly returned to training – drafting in Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson and making an active push to land on the historic event.

Unfortunately, Dana White seemed adamant from day one that he would not end up on the card, and when it was finally announced last month his name was the most notable absence. Now, he has confirmed to Red Corner MMA that his time in the cage is up and he is moving on to new businesses.

“My gloves are hung up, I’m chilling these days,” he explained when asked about potential fights. “You got business, Jon Jones – no more fighter Jon Jones… The businessman, you know what I’m sayin’?”
