It is being reported by MMA Weekly that Jon ‘Bone’ Jones is facing new charges stemming from a car crash and an eventual getaway earlier this year.
Jones has found himself in the headlines consistently as of late. Everything from his ‘retirement’, possible return to the UFC, and now these new charges.
After being called to an incident in Albuquerque, New Mexico, police arrived to find a woman, half-naked and under the influence, in the passenger seat of a crashed white sedan. The car was allegedly being driven by Jon Jones, who was accused of fleeing before the cops were able to reach the scene.
Following Jones’ alleged hit-and-run from the scene of the accident in February, Jon Jones has now been slammed with another charge from the incident.
The second set of charges were filed on June 30 declared that Jones is charged with Use of Telephone to Terrify, Intimidate, Threaten, Harass, Annoy or Offend’.
According to the officer that was on the scene, Jones sounded intoxicated, his words were slurring during a phone call. Jones proceeded to threaten an officer.
“My brothers, they kill people for way less,” Jones allegedly said to an officer. “They slit throats. They’re the most evil people you’ll ever meet.”
Jones continued, “Guess what, you won’t be the first guy this year that I’ve threatened, swear to God. You’d be the second one.”
Jones already pleaded not guilty to the charge of leaving the scene of the crime. A new trial date is set for August 14.
