Jorge Masvidal offers Conor McGregor one key stipulation to finally make grudge fight

One of the biggest fights in UFC history didn’t happen but you can never say never in MMA.

Conor McGregor recently confirmed that fighting isn’t his main priority right now and he’s happy with what he accomplished.

‘The Notorious’ has other passions that he’s focused on right now with McGregor leaning towards a career in politics following his meeting with Donald Trump.

A fellow fighter who is also interested in exploring this career path is Jorge Masvidal who also plans on returning to the Octagon in the near future.

During the peak of Masvidal’s popularity, a fight against the biggest star in the history of the sport would’ve been an easy homerun for the UFC.

Jorge Masvidal says he’d accept a fight with Conor McGregor if there was a down payment

In 2019, Jorge Masvidal went from being a fan favorite to one of the biggest names in the sport following one of the most remarkable years in UFC history.

‘Gamebred’ stopped Darren Till in London, produced the fastest knockout in UFC history against Ben Askren and capped off his campaign with a dominant win over Nate Diaz to win the BMF belt.

Though he has gone without a win in his last four outings since this run, Masvidal was the most talked about fighter in the sport at one point in time.

Despite not fighting in 2019, Conor McGregor’s return to the Octagon in January of 2020 meant that both he and the BMF champ were active at the same time in the same weight class.

We didn’t get to see the fight back then and it seems incredibly unlikely that we’ll see it now due to McGregor’s current status.

In a recent interview with Submission Radio, Masvidal did provide one crucial term that would need to be in place for him to seriously consider a matchup with ‘The Mac’.

Given what happened between McGregor and Michael Chandler, Masvidal wants some more security that he’s going to be financially rewarded no matter what.

“That guy doesn’t even know what day it is. I wouldn’t hold my breath on fighting this midget. Especially when he’s confused in many things, he’s not pulling the trigger on anything. Look at poor Michael Chandler. I don’t want to be like a GoFundMe of Michael Chandler, just be chilling there and waiting for this guy to bless me with a fight, hell nah.

“If that fight was actually very tangible and something like that and they put a big a– down payment just in case this mother midget Irish effer pulled out, then yeah. That way, if he pulls out, I get my little down payment no matter what, it’s all good but if not, ain’t nobody waiting around for this dude.”

There are other big fights for Jorge Masvidal

Conor McGregor stepping foot inside the Octagon one more time seems out of reach right now but it’s not the only big fight that is out there for Jorge Masvidal.

Whilst nothing compares to a showdown with ‘The Notorious’, both Masvidal and Nate Diaz returning to the UFC to face off for a third time makes a lot of sense.

‘Gamebred’ also has a long running history with Leon Edwards who could be an option following his back-to-back losses.

Having not competed in MMA in two years, Masvidal could now find himself back in some marquee matchups when he returns despite his dip in form.
