Jorge Masvidal Vows To Put An End To Nate Diaz's 'Bullsh*t' View Of BMF Fight In Boxing Rematch: 'He Always Said The Ref Saved Me...'
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz are set to meet for a second time when they compete in a 10-round boxing match this summer.

June 1 sees the two former UFC fighters clash at the Kia Forum in California for a rematch of their first fight, which took place in MMA back in November 2019.

That fight, which was Masvidal's last win in the UFC before he announced his retirement last April, ended in somewhat disappointing fashion.

Live from Madison Square Garden for the symbolic BMF title, the stage was set for a war between two fighters who are always down for a brawl.

But the UFC 244 main event was waved off by the doctor before the fourth round could get underway due to a cut above Diaz's right eye, and he hasn't forgotten this fact.

Masvidal Wants To Leave No Doubts This Time Around Against Diaz

Masvidal was very dominant in his fight with Diaz, especially in the opening rounds, where the fight appeared to be heading in one direction.

However, the doctor stepping in to call the fight off opened up the opportunity for people to say that Diaz was looking better in the third round and that after "Gamebred" had started so strong, that could have been a turning point in the fight.

This small caveat hanging over his win is something that motivates Masvidal ahead of the rematch. He told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour that he hopes to destroy any debate as to who the referee saved on that night in New York.

“I want to murder this guy and it’s nothing personal with him, but I want to beat the f****** brakes off him. He always said that the referee saved me. I don’t think anybody with common sense would agree. So I think this fight right here puts an end to all that bulls***.”
