Khabib Denies Owing Russian Government Via Unpaid Taxes

Khabib Nurmagomedov has denied reports that he is in trouble with the Russian authorities for not paying the correct amount of taxes. 

The fighter is facing issues after suggestions that his tax affairs are under scrutiny. Reports stress that Khabib’s paperwork for his taxes showed that he had underpaid by 300 million rubles, equivalent to $3 million. The Russian authorities have frozen his accounts, and the fighter faces a battle to resolve the problem. 

Khabib left the UFC with an undefeated record of 29-0 in MMA. He secured massive wins against Dustin Poirier, Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje. He retired in 2020 at the top of his game. While he has been linked with a return to the sport, Khabib dismissed the possibility. This was following the passing of his father as he promised his mother that he would not fight again.

“Because of I finish my career, because I promise mother, that’s why this one question, discussion between me and my mother become very famous. But we had a lot of different things people don’t know about this. Not only this promise. I follow not only this promise to my mother. I follow everything about Mother. You can have friends or kids, whatever. You can have whatever you want. But you’re never going to have one more mother. You have only one mother. For me, it’s everything. For me, it’s everything,” Nurmagomedov said

His tax troubles have raised questions about whether he will return to the UFC. But whether that happens depends on how Khabib resolves this issue. However, his team has responded by denying those claims.
