Khamzat Chimaev has yet to confirm his first title defence but is already setting his sights on Alex Pereira up at light heavyweight.
There has been plenty of talk around what is next for the undefeated champion, with many expecting a bout against Nassourdine Imavov to be announced soon.
Imavov has put together an impressive run that makes him a natural choice for the shot.
But after Pereira’s knockout win over Magomed Ankalaev last month, Chimaev shifted his focus upwards and made it clear he wants that fight.
‘Borz’ is so confident of victory that he asserted he could defeat both Pereira and a record-breaking coach in the same night.
Chimaev is not just setting his sights on Pereira. He has also openly challenged the Brazilian’s coach, Glover Teixeira.
Confident that he can handle ‘Poatan’, the Chechen star has pointed out that the Brazilian’s fighting style could play right into his hands. But he did not stop there – he went as far as to say he could take on Teixeira, too.
“Of course, brother, I could beat him with his coach (Glover) Teixeira together. I will beat them both sometime,” Chimaev said on social media.

Before he reached the top of the division, Chimaev was set to face Nate Diaz in a UFC 279 main event at welterweight.
The bout did not happen after ‘Borz’ missed weight, and looking back now, he believes Diaz’s days competing at the top level are over.
“He’s (Nate Diaz) on d—-, he’s finished. Give him rehabilitation, send him to Chechnya.”
