Khamzat Chimaev has his sights set on a fight with Colby Covington as his next move.

The 15-0 MMA star has not been in the Octagon since August 2025, when he claimed the middleweight title by beating Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 319.

Before making his first defence of the 185lb belt, ‘Borz’ is interested in competing in Real American Freestyle (RAF).

Khamzat Chimaev calls out Colby Covington

Chimaev tuned in from home to watch the new wrestling league put on another strong showing this past Saturday.

The event included a main event between Henry Cejudo and Urijah Faber, with appearances from Aljamain Sterling and Clay Guida.

But it was Arman Tsarukyan’s post-fight scrap with Georgio Poullas that dominated the conversation afterwards.

Chimaev was clearly impressed by RAF 06 and has since expressed interest in competing at their next show.

The middleweight champion has made it clear he wants to face Covington at RAF 07, which will be held at the University of South Florida’s Yuengling Center in Tampa, on March 28.

“Next RAF, I will make American boy humble again. Colbiclown, let’s go,” the Chechen fighter said.

Khamzat Chimaev’s potential UFC return

Sean Strickland has emerged as the likely opponent for Chimaev’s next fight.

The former middleweight champion recently knocked out Anthony Hernandez at UFC Houston, then used his post-fight interview to call out Chimaev.

The two fighters exchanged messages on social media afterwards.

Since then, ‘Borz’ has linked his layoff to Strickland, telling a fan who asked about a potential injury: “No, I waiting for Strickland.”

It is still unknown whether the UFC will approve Chimaev’s request to compete in RAF before facing Strickland.
