Khamzat Chimaev vs Sean Strickland: Kamaru Usman breaks down fight between his former opponents

“Strickland has this weird style where he just relaxes, blocks, and leans away.

“It’s very difficult for people to get to his face to hit him…. Strickland is very hard to hit.”

Usman believes Chimaev may be forced to show he’s more than a wrestler against Strickland.

“Khamzat has this one tool that he uses, and he can just dominate everybody,” he added. “When he focuses on just using that tool, and it doesn’t work, he looks bad in other places. Khamzat has really good striking.

“If he can switch the mentality to be a free mixed martial artist, to where it’s not just ‘I have to get this guy down, or I might lose this’, I think we really start to see that arsenal. I think this might be the fight to make that happen.

“We know if you can’t get Strickland down and he starts marching downhill, it’s a problem.

“I think it’s a very intriguing fight. I love it. I don’t mind seeing it.”

Khamzat Chimaev vs Sean Strickland fight date ‘leaked’

Khamzat Chimaev’s next opponent hasn’t been announced by Dana White or the UFC yet.

There is still a chance Nassourdine Imavov will get a middleweight title shot over Sean Strickland.

However, rumors are swirling that Chimaev vs Strickland is done after their fight date leaked.

“Whoever is managing Strickland’s schedule needs to cancel all his podcast recordings after May 9 because you can’t talk into a mic with a wired shut jaw,” sports reporter Adam Zubayraev tweeted on Tuesday.

UFC 328 is booked to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, on May 9.

It’s starting to seem like a matter of time before Chimaev and Strickland’s fight is announced as the UFC 328 main event.
