Islam Makhachev defends the welterweight championship against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 on Saturday in Philadelphia.
The lightweight kingpin Makhachev moved up to welterweight and captured the second belt, according to MMA Fighting, and now faces the unbeaten Irishman in the main event. Mackenzie Dern meets Gillian Robertson for the strawweight title in the co-main event.
Despite featuring two championship bouts, the card appears to be drawing minimal attention ahead of fight night, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck noted during Wednesday's media day coverage. Heck and analyst Jed Meshew discussed the lack of promotional momentum on their Between the Links podcast.
Dana White recently addressed the pound-for-pound conversation involving Makhachev, who looks to become one of the rare fighters to hold UFC titles in multiple weight classes. Machado Garry enters as a live underdog with the tools to disrupt the champion's game plan if he can solve the Dagestani's grappling.
The UFC 330 early prelims begin Saturday at 6 p.m. ET, with the main card airing at 10 p.m. ET.
