Jorge Masvidal has put Leon Edwards on notice, saying he wants to face him at the UFC White House card that takes place in June 2026.
Masvidal’s last fight was a majority decision loss to Nate Diaz last year in their boxing bout. The result followed after his poor run of form in the UFC, where he lost to Gilbert Burns at UFC 287 in his last UFC bout. The result meant he lost his last four UFC bouts. However, Gamebread has said that he wants to make a return to the UFC. Edwards could be the perfect name based on their history. Masvidal sucker-punched Edwards in March 2019 at a UFC event in London.
Meanwhile, Edwards has a lot to prove too. Leon recently lost his UFC Welterweight Title to Belal Muhammad in July 2024. He followed that up with a fourth-round submission loss to Sean Brady in March 2025, marking the first time in his professional career that Edwards has suffered back-to-back defeats. Gamebread wants to inflict another loss on him.
“If you’re watching this [Leon], I’ll f***ing beat the f*** out of you at the White House. Leon, I will beat the f***ing dogs*** out of you, just to say America, kicked f***ing England’s ass for trying to take over our s***. We had to send y’all back, I’m gonna send you back in the same way. On a ship back home. 4th July, America’s birthday, brother. Let them make the mistake and send you as a representative for England. I will crash that party, brother. I’ll go crazy on this motherf***er, bro. I’ll get in shape for you Leon, don’t worry about it brother,” Masvidal said
Masvidal’s best chance for victory lies in a high-volume, early-round pressure. Masvidal, known for his devastating quick finishes, needs to force a chaotic, dirty boxing exchange where his superior natural power and notorious aggression can shine. His primary objective would be to immediately test Edwards’s chin, especially given Edwards’ recent submission loss to Sean Brady. Masvidal will use feints, and his sharp short-range striking to land big, fight-changing shots.
For Edwards, the key is to revert to his strengths: distance control, technical striking, and patience. He cannot afford to get drawn into a brawl. Edwards needs a textbook, five-round performance to rebuild his reputation as an elite welterweight. Edwards is one of the best in the division at maintaining kickboxing distance using a stiff jab, long straight punches, and powerful low kicks, and his aim will be to frustrate Masvidal by constantly moving off the center line, forcing him to chase and expend precious energy.
