Maurice Abevi has put together a three-bout win streak ahead of his return at ONE Fight Night 32. As he challenges for lightweight contendership in ONE Championship, an unbeaten Russian stands in his way. The June 6 showdown in Bangkok, Thailand, against Alibeg Rasulov, will be a pivotal moment for the Swiss star.
“I feel amazing. I feel like my mind is in the right place. I love the process of training and getting better and seeing results. I’m just riding the wave. I’m doing my best every day, and that’s where the results are coming from. The people are seeing the developments from me every time I get in there. I’m just a good fighter, and you can’t deny me,” Maurice Abevi said to ONE.
Rasulov has already shown tremendous ability under the bright lights with a win over Ok Rae Yoon and a fierce showing against ONE Lightweight and Welterweight MMA World Champion Christian Lee. The talent has not gone unnoticed. Maurice Abevi has been looking for every minuscule weakness that he can find.

“I think his strength is his unorthodox style. He has good cardio and good wrestling. He’s overall very well put together and fights for every position well. But I think he overextends himself sometimes, and that’s where I’ll capitalize. I think I’m more controlled than him. He’s more chaotic and dangerous, but that also makes him exploitable,” the lightweight commented.
Knowing it will be a difficult matchup, Maurice Abevi is not counting on a first-round finish. Instead, the Swiss athlete believes he will need to take the action into the final round before stopping the Russian star. Regardless of when it will happen, Abevi is confident he can avoid the judges at ONE Fight Night 32.
“I think I can expose some holes in his game that nobody else has been able to, and I’m excited to show that. I think I’ll stop him in the third round by TKO. I think it’s just a matter of time to break him down across the earlier rounds, then I’ll stop him in the third round,” Abevi remarked.
The confidence he has comes from a recent change in his camp. Maurice Abevi has been working with a new strength and conditioning coach to prepare him for championship-level bouts. Fit and prepared, Abevi is ready to push the pace in Bangkok.
“I have a new strength and conditioning and physio coach called Fabian. He helps me with injury prevention, cardio training. That’s a piece of the puzzle that I’ve added for this camp, and I can already notice how much progress has come from it,” Abevi commented.
The lightweight clash will be important for who challenges Lee next. With two bulls ready to tussle inside Lumpinee Stadium, the tiniest of mistakes could be the difference. Maurice Abevi feels the matchup could be grueling and is prepared to put his fitness to the test against one of the division’s most difficult matchups.
“Rasulov is known for his energy levels, so I have to keep mine up. I have proven I can dig deep and go into the later rounds already, but I want to be able to go even better for even longer,” Abevi said.
ONE Fight Night 32 airs live on Prime Video on Friday, June 6. The action begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The event is free for all Amazon Prime subscribers in the U.S. and Canada.
