McGhee Books New Opponent 3 Days From UFC 332

Marcus McGhee has a new opponent for Saturday's UFC 332 card in Salt Lake City.

The promotion confirmed Wednesday that McGhee will now face newcomer Anthony Romero in a featherweight bout after original opponent Bernardo Sopaj pulled out with an injury, MMA Fighting reports. Romero takes the assignment on three days' notice. The matchup was initially set for bantamweight.

McGhee Moves Up After June Win

McGhee returned to the win column in June with a unanimous decision over John Yannis, bouncing back from his first UFC loss to Petr Yan. The 11-2 fighter now stands 5-1 inside the octagon and ranks 15th at bantamweight in MMA Fighting's global rankings.

Romero carries a 7-2 record with one no-contest and has spent most of his career with Up Next Fighting in Los Angeles. His last outing saw him defend the UNF bantamweight title with a first-round knockout of Yuma Horiuchi.

UFC 332 is headlined by a vacant flyweight title fight between Natalia Silva and Wang Cong. The main card airs Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on Paramount+ and CBS.
