McGregor Calls Holloway Trilogy 'The Last Dance'

Conor McGregor confirmed UFC CEO Dana White's assessment that he will be sidelined for a year following his second-straight leg injury, and signaled that a trilogy fight with Max Holloway could close his mixed martial arts career.

McGregor tore his ACL and meniscus seconds into the UFC 329 headliner when a spinning wheel kick attempt went wrong, forcing referee Herb Dean to stop the bout. White told reporters at the recent Zuffa Boxing press conference that the former two-division champion would need at least 12 months to recover, per BJ Penn.

McGregor Eyes 2027 International Fight Week Return

In an Instagram post, McGregor addressed the timeline directly. "What was to be a generational beating is now to be reset," he wrote. "International Fight Week 2027, the last dance."

The Irishman has not won inside the Octagon since stopping Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 in January 2020. He dropped consecutive bouts to Dustin Poirier in 2021 before the failed comeback against Holloway, who is expected to take at least one fight before any potential rematch.

McGregor's reference to a "last dance" suggests the Holloway trilogy would mark his final appearance in the cage. International Fight Week 2027 would give him a full year to rehab the right leg injury that ended his most recent bout.
