Conor McGregor has a new target in his sights following Charles Oliveira’s win over Max Holloway to capture the BMF Championship at UFC 326.
Oliveira successfully avenged his 2015 loss to “Blessed” with a grappling masterclass, securing a 50-45 sweep on all three judges’ scorecards. However, McGregor was far from impressed by the dominant display. The Irishman lambasted the main event as a “snoozefest.” McGregor mocked Oliveira’s wrestling-heavy strategy, labeling the Brazilian “Little Charlie”. McGregor then transitioned into a direct challenge, posting: “If they want I’ll spank charlie.” Oliviera did not hold back, stating that he would be ready to face McGregor if the bout presented itself.
“I’m actually looking for a title. This is the truth. I want to focus on this fight that will happen at the White House. I’ll definitely be there. The Conor fight, I’ve already said I would do this fight. It could be at 155, at 185, it doesn’t matter, because I would definitely be for a lot of money. Or they can do a Grand Prix. Put both on the same day and let’s see what happens,” Oliveira said
Despite this being the case, Conor’s return is no closer. He was overlooked for the UFC White House card on June 14. He has not had a fight since his UFC 264 loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021. He was on course to face Michael Chandler at UFC 304, only for Conor to pull out due to a broken pinky toe. Dana White has stated that talks are ongoing with McGregor. However, there has been no agreement struck, meaning Conor’s near future is no closer to being resolved. White, though, has said moves are being made.
“No [update] but we are definitely talking to Conor obviously. Not even close [to a timetable for his return]. We have no date for Conor right now. Not even close,” White stated
