McGregor Parties Before Fight With Chandler – ‘He’s Lost The Fight’
[NETWORK PROPERTY]-USA TODAY NETWORK

Conor McGregor was partying with little over a month left before he faced Michael Chandler on June 29 at UFC 303.

The Notorious is returning to the sport, having lost to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in 2021. He suffered a broken leg, and his UFC record went to three defeats out of his last four UFC bouts. The rivalry with Chandler has been building since their days as rival coaches on the TUFC 31 series.

Chandler got the better of McGregor, with his team winning the series. However, when it came to the coach’s challenge, McGregor came out on top. There have been concerns about McGregor’s behavior outside the Octagon. Accusations of drinking and distractions, such as his debut movie’ Road House’, have raised concerns that his eye is not fully on the fight. Now, McGregor was seen partying with his fiancee Dee Devlin at his Black Forge Inn pub in Dublin. The clip shows them dancing with EDM musicians Marc Kinchen and Belters Only.

McGregor Partying

It is not clear if McGregor had been drinking. His previous comments suggested that he had given up drinking for the last ten weeks in the run-up to this fight. However, the sustained damage from drinking may impact him in the fight. McGregor is known for gassing out in the later rounds of a fight. Chandler, meanwhile, is one of the most disciplined athletes in the sport. While he may not have fought since losing to Poirier in 2022, he has kept himself in good shape. McGregor’s previous comments show he can lose interest and hit the drink if his mind is not fully focused on the task.

“I had a camp in Cannes, and I had a camp in Dubai where I had world champions training with me. I was hoping for a December date and then a January date. Then it keeps getting pushed back, then I stop full training for a while. Not stop training, I will always train, but stop full training and drinking a little back,” McGregor stated

McGregor’s Chances

McGregor’s chances of winning depend on several factors. The leg injury is a talking point, given how serious it was. Chandler will likely target the legs, making it vital that McGregor feels confident in letting his power kicks go. Chandler’s decision to remain inactive since his 2022 loss could also prove crucial. While he is considered the fresher fighter, staying sharp is key.

Doing it under the bright lights is an entirely different thing compared to the gym. The live gate for McGregor-Chandler has already set a UFC record at over $20 million. Chandler will face a pro-McGregor crowd. But if he manages to subdue them in the early rounds, the pressure will be on McGregor to justify his comeback. MMA fans have reacted, expressing worries over whether McGregor can perform. The 35-year-old is coming off a career-threatening injury and knows he is at the tail end of his career.
