Conor McGregor has backed Ian Machado Garry to pull off a stunning upset against Islam Makhachev at UFC 330 in Philadelphia this Saturday — and has a specific prediction for how it happens.

McGregor revealed Garry has been training at SBG Ireland, his longtime home gym, ahead of the welterweight title fight. Armed with inside knowledge of the camp, he shared his read on how the Irishman can dethrone the UFC's pound-for-pound number one.

"He has the tools, been doing great work at SBG, putting in some solid rounds," McGregor said on Instagram. "Ian's definitely going to stay safe, be in there. Makhachev has pockets where there's a lot of stalling, and he still has things to prove in that welterweight division. Gotta grow into it a bit more,” McGregor

McGregor then delivered his prediction with characteristic precision: "How do I see it? Right high kick, across the crown of the head," he said. "Late round. This goes late, folks. And a victory for the Irish-Brazilian — let's go Ian, rooting for you, bro."

The fight adds another chapter to the ongoing Ireland vs. Dagestan rivalry that has defined much of the UFC's recent history. Garry has staked his claim as the only man who deserves the next title shot — and on Saturday night, he gets the chance to back it up.
