The bantamweight title will be on the line in the UFC 320 co-main event on Oct. 4 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Champion Merab Dvalishvili (20-4) takes on No. 4 ranked contender Cory Sandhagen (18-5). UFC CEO Dana White announced the matchup on Tuesday.
Dvalishvili captured the 135-pound championship by defeating the-champion Sean O'Malley at UFC 306 in September 2024. He's successfully defended the title twice, including defeating O'Malley a second time in a rematch at UFC 316 in June. "The Machine" is riding a 13-fight winning streak and hasn't tasted defeat since April 2018.
Sandhagen will enter the title fight coming off a 'Performance of the Night' win over former flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo. He's won four of his last five fights.
'UFC 320 features two world title bouts. Headlining the pay-per-view fight card is a light heavyweight title fight between champion Magomed Ankalaev and former two-division UFC titleholder Alex Pereira.
