The 'King of Violence' title was be up for grabs on Saturday in Newark, New Jersey at Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship 82.
A welterweight bout between titleholder Mike Perry and Jeremy Stephens headlined the fight card at the Prudential Center in a fight that promised excitement.
Perry moved forward at the start of the opening bell. Stephens connected with a combination. Stephens' jab snapped Perry's head back but Perry pressed forward. Perry connected with a swinging right hand. Stephen fired back with a right hand count that landed. Perry began targeting the body in the closing seconds of the opening round. Both men had success in the first frame but it was Perry who dictated the pace.
Perry pressed forward to start the second round. He landed but Stephens responded with punches. Perry picked up the pace and unleashed an onslaught of punches. Stephens backed up and covered. They exchanged jabs. Perry was able to walk through Stephens' punches while landing power shots.
Perry inches forward but walked into a right hand to start the third. Perry continued to pressure Stephens and Stephens' right hand continued to land. Perry relentlessly pressured Stephens landing punches. Stephens was forced to take a knee. When the action was restarted, Parry went on the offense. Stephens survived the round but was bloodied.
The pace slowed in the fourth. Perry closed the distance with punches. Stephens landed a right hand but was taking damage. He again went to a knee. He rose before the count and Perry went for the finish. Stephens covered and retreated. Perry followed and a left hand had Stephens taking another knee. He stood before the end of the round.
Stephens started the fifth with a right hand. He moved laterally on the outside as Perry worked to box him in. Perry connected with a clean right hand that sent Stephens to the canvas. He stood after an eight count. Seconds later another right hand put him down. Again, Stephens stood only to be knocked back down with a right hand.
The official time of the TKO was 1:35 of the fifth round.
