Nate Diaz has publicly apologised after clarifying that his controversial slap comments were aimed at Charles Oliveira, not Max Holloway.
The former UFC star initially discussed a potential bout with Max Holloway at a proposed White House event during an interview. He later posted on X to correct the record and acknowledged that his remark was misdirected.
The clarification has redirected attention toward Oliveira and prompted Diaz to address his language directly.
While speaking to ClockedNload, Nate Diaz was asked about the prospect of facing Max Holloway. In outlining his thoughts, he made an aggressive comment that quickly gained traction.
“I like Max. Yeah, [I want a fight with Max]. I’ll slap the s— out of him, though. That was rude what I just said, but I’ll f—him up. Yeah, the White House would be perfect.”
This level of fire and bravado is what fans have come to expect from Nate Diaz, especially after he hinted at a return to the octagon recently.
The wording led many to believe Diaz had directly threatened Holloway. He later stated that the interpretation was incorrect.
In a follow-up message on X, Nate Diaz clarified that the slap remark was intended for Charles Oliveira. He also admitted the comment was inappropriate.
“I didn’t say I’d slap Max Holloway. I said that about Oliveira, but I shouldn’t have said that, either. It was rude, and I was F’d up.”
“If we were fighting in a caged match, I might attempt it, but that was rude. I shouldn’t have said that. My bad, Bruhs. All Respecto!”
By issuing the apology, Diaz corrected the narrative and expressed regret over his choice of words. The episode clarifies his position while keeping attention on potential future matchups.
