Nate Diaz is hoping for a Conor McGregor return to the octagon.
Diaz and McGregor have a long and storied history. The two fighters have faced off twice, with both fighters winning each matchup.
In March 2016, at UFC 196, Nate Diaz stepped to fight McGregor with just 10-days notice after McGregor’s original opponent, former lightweight champion was forced out due to a broken foot.
Diaz submitted McGregor, giving McGregor his first loss.
Just five months later, the two rematched in UFC 202. This time, McGregor got the win over Diaz via majority decision.
At the moment, neither fighter is competing in the UFC. McGregor is still under contract with the UFC fight promotion.
If Diaz had to choose, he says McGregor would be his first choice.
“If I could fight anybody right now, I would fight, with all due respect to them, if Conor McGregor came back and did some f**king sh*t. Conor McGregor. There ain’t nobody else to fight really right now,” Diaz said on Out Cold with Chuck Liddell.
Diaz continued, “I would like for him to come back and impress everybody first. Not that he needs to, but it would be good to see him back. Everybody is hating on him, and I’d like to beat up somebody on top of the world and I think he’s got the capability to do that.”
McGregor last fought in UFC 264 in July 2021.
