Former UFC star Nate Diaz is insistent on finally setting his longtime feud with Conor McGregor.
When Nate Diaz last competed in the premier MMA promotion, Francis Ngannou was the UFC heavyweight champion.
Fortunately for the Stockton native, though, he didn’t leave the promotion on the same terms Ngannou did, and the door was seemingly left open for him to return by the boss, Dana White.
And having now fully explored his options outside of the UFC, boxing against Jake Paul and Jorge Masvidal, the 40-year-old has a UFC return in his sights.
This past week, Diaz declared that he would like to return on the UFC White House event scheduled for this coming June.
Originally, the former UFC star stated that he would like to fight the winner of the UFC 326 BMF title fight between Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira, predicting that ‘Blessed’ would come out on top.
However, now just a week removed from his previous comments, the 40-year-old has provided his new three-man hit list, beginning with a long-awaited trilogy fight against Conor McGregor.
“I would like to fight somebody, I’m ready to get back into real action, I want to fight either McGregor (trilogy), I want to fight maybe Dustin Poirier if he stops being such a p—- and then maybe Mike Perry, we’ll see what happens in the future, though,” Diaz told TMZ Sports.
Diaz and McGregor are 1-1, and ever since their rematch at UFC 202 in 2016, fans have been calling for the trilogy fight.
And that potential clash was given somewhat of a boost recently when the UFC boss shut down a potential UFC White House fight between McGregor and Michael Chandler.
Diaz and Dustin Poirier have had an ongoing feud over the past few years and despite ‘The Diamond’s’ recent retirement, it seemed as though he would be open to a return against the Stockton fighter.
A clash against Mike Perry on the other hand would likely come under the BKFC banner, however, it seems unlikely that Diaz would fight in bare-knuckle boxing.
Despite being 40 years old and way past his fighting prime, Diaz was always one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster.
Not only that, but he had a great relationship with White, despite his and his brother Nick Diaz‘s differences with the UFC boss over the years.
And when Diaz left the promotion in 2022, White stated that it will ‘always’ be Diaz’s house, and he didn’t ever shut down the potential of having the popular brawler back on the roster.
