Nate Diaz has revealed a three-fight wishlist for his future combat sports fights.

After a 2024–2025 stint in the boxing ring—highlighted by a revenge victory over Jorge Masvidal—Diaz appears ready to return to more fighting. The 40-year-old has not had a UFC fight since beating Tony Ferguson in 2022 at UFC 278, but Diaz made it clear that he isn’t just looking for any opponent; he wants the fights that define his legacy. He named Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier and Mike Perry.

Options

  1. Conor McGregor (The Trilogy): Tied at 1-1, Diaz insists a third bout is “inevitable.” He has specifically requested this fight for the UFC White House card on June 14.
  2. Dustin Poirier: Despite Poirier’s retirement in July 2025, Poirier recently hinted he would come back for a potential Justin Gaethje trilogy. Dustin was also spotted recently in full training.
  3. Mike Perry: Mike Perry has become the face of bare-knuckle boxing, but Diaz has expressed an interest in facing him.

“I would like to fight somebody, I’m ready to get back into real action, I want to fight either McGregor (trilogy), I want to fight maybe Dustin Poirier if he stops being such a p—- and then maybe Mike Perry, we’ll see what happens in the future, though,” Diaz said

One of those mentioned, Poirier, has now responded. Dustin retired last year after losing his trilogy fight against Max Holloway at UFC 318. Since his retirement, Dustin has been engaging in media duties. However, he has said he is struggling to deal with life outside of retirement. A fight with Gaethje would cap off a trilogy, while a fight with Nate could have happened at UFC 230 only for it to fall through.

Poirier’s Future

“I miss that too. Pushing myself every day with my [training partners]. I mean, some of these guys are my best friends in the world. I’ve had so many great nights with them. We’ve laughed together. We’ve cried together. We’ve built each other up. We’ve made each other better. It is just like a brotherhood.

“When you’re in the thick of training camp — let’s just say I’m five weeks into a training camp, I’m hungry, the diet’s crazy. My body’s beat in that moment. I think in my mind, ‘I would rather be anywhere in the world doing anything else but this, sweating and bleeding and training hard right now.’ But then I get away from it and I’m like, ‘There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than doing that,” Poirier stated

Now, Dustin has had his say on a potential Diaz fight.

“Belt to a**,” Poirier said
