UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones broke some big fight news recently on social media.

Jones, who continues to recover from surgery, declared plans to return to the Octagon later this year.

“I got 18 weeks and three days to improve,” Jones posted. “That’s exactly what I’m going to do. Progress equal happiness, sacrifice today, smile tomorrow.

“Find your personal love for self improvement.”

At the time of the posting, the countdown would end on November 9. The UFC typically heads to Madison Square Garden in New York City that month.

Jones would later clarify all of it, writing “The red corner, my office, #Nov9th.”

“November 9th Madison Square Garden,” he said. “I know it seems like a dream but it’s really happening.”

Jon Jones-Stipe Miocic Targeted For UFC 309 In November

Last year, Jones was set to defend his belt against Miocic from Madison Square Garden. While training, though, “Bones” suffered a serious injury that required surgery.

Instead of taking another bout, Miocic remained on the sidelines. A former champion himself, he wants nothing more than to test his skills vs. Jones.

Tom Aspinall has since claimed the interim heavyweight championships and will defend that belt later this year. Alex Pereira, the reigning light heavyweight champ, has made it known he is interested in a move up.

But for now, we appear to have our potential match of the year with Jones vs. Miocic from MSG in NYC.
