Paddy Pimblett has revealed the one condition that could bring him back to fight in the UK — a UFC event at Liverpool’s iconic Anfield Stadium .
The lightweight star, who is set to face Justin Gaethje at UFC 324, said he wants his next homecoming to happen in front of his hometown crowd, calling it “the dream” venue for a future card.
Pimblett’s comments have reignited excitement among Liverpool fans who have long called for the UFC to stage an event at Anfield, something that would be a first for both the promotion and the city.
Pimblett explained that he doesn’t see any other UK arena as capable of hosting his next fight if the UFC decides to return to British soil.
“I think the odds are going lower and lower. It would be a shame, obviously but I don’t think anywhere is big enough, unless they come to Anfield – that’s the dream,” Pimblett said.
He added, “I’ve spoken to people at the club about it before and they’d be happy to do it, the higher-ups at the club, but it’s just the UFC doing it.”
Pimblett, a lifelong Liverpool supporter, has spoken before about his dream of walking out to “You’ll Never Walk Alone” in front of a home crowd. His latest comments only amplify speculation that a UFC Anfield event could be in the long-term plans if he continues to rise through the lightweight rankings.
While focused on his upcoming fight with Gaethje, Pimblett made it clear that he still has plenty left to achieve in the Octagon.
“I want at least another seven or eight fights in the UFC, I think. When I win this belt on Saturday, and then win the proper belt, that’s when people will start remembering.
“That’s what we’re in this game for. You want to become champ and defend it, and hopefully that’s what happens,” Pimblett concluded.
The 31-year-old’s ambitions line up with the UFC’s growing interest in hosting larger-scale international events, and if Pimblett maintains his current momentum, an Anfield showdown may no longer seem like fantasy. For Liverpool fans, his dream could soon become theirs too.
