Former middleweight title challenger Paulo Costa looked impressive in his UFC 318 co-main event win over Roman Kopylov.
He entered the fight coming off back-to-back losses to former champions Sean Strickland and Robert Whitaker and on the verge of falling out of the 185-pound rankings and relevance in the division.
Costa set the pace, hurting Kopylov on multiple occasions. He mixed up his offensive attacks and employed a higher output than his Russian opponent. Following the fight, in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, Costa called out the undefeated top contender Khamzat Chimaev.
"Everybody knows that I hate that guy. Everybody knows who. That motherf***er Khamzat Chimaev. He's a big a**hole," Costa said to the crowd inside Smoothie King Center.
"My wife is over here. He DM'd her. This is not good. This is a bad thing in every culture. He said bad things about me, about her, but he never sent to me because he's a coward," continued Costa.
"Chimaev, you are a coward. And I'm here and I'm going to look for you. I'm going to chase for you, and I will not stop until I get to you."
Chimaev headlines the UFC 319 fight card on Aug. 16 in a middleweight title bout against champion Dricus Du Plessis.
