Alex Pereira claims referee Herb Dean stopped his heavyweight title loss to Ciryl Gane prematurely at UFC Freedom 250 in June.
The former light heavyweight champion, who moved up to challenge for the interim heavyweight strap, argued he was still on his feet when Dean waved off the bout. "I was still standing," Pereira said, according to MMA Mania. Gane stopped Pereira in the fight held on the South Lawn at the White House in Washington, D.C.
The Brazilian has reportedly shifted his criticism of Dean from post-fight complaints to now questioning the stoppage itself. Video from the bout showed Pereira absorbing heavy punishment and appearing badly hurt before Dean intervened.
Pereira has not fought since the loss. Gane holds the interim heavyweight title heading into his next assignment.
