Prates Warns Brady And Medic After Callouts

Carlos Prates has a message for the welterweights calling him out: not yet.

The surging contender told Sean Brady and Uros Medic to pump the brakes on their callouts, per BJ Penn. Prates said his next step is challenging for UFC gold, and only after that will he address the challengers lining up. "Calm down, brothers," he wrote on Instagram. "In my next fight, I'm taking that belt. After that, I'll deal with all of you and take you straight to the Kingdom of Pain. Be ready. Nothing personal, just business."

Prates Riding Three-Fight Knockout Streak

Prates has won his last three inside the Octagon, stopping Jack Della Maddalena, Leon Edwards, and Geoff Neal in succession. All three finishes earned him Performance of the Night bonuses. The run has positioned him as a dark-horse contender for whoever emerges from UFC 330, where Islam Makhachev defends the welterweight strap against Ian Machado Garry.

Brady recently bounced back from a loss to Michael Morales by outpointing Joaquin Buckley at UFC 328. Medic has won four straight, including a 30-second knockout of Daniel Rodriguez in Belgrade that earned him his second consecutive bonus. Both men want Prates next, but the Brazilian appears set on a bigger target. Medic figures to land a ranked opponent soon, though Prates may remain out of reach for now.

UFC 330 takes place later this month.
