There could be another name change for UFC’s White House event on the horizon after a press conference suggestion today.
While fans simply know it as ‘UFC White House‘, the official title for the June 14 extravaganza is Freedom 250. It will be a simultaneous celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States, as well as President Donald Trump’s 80th.
Dana White has made it clear just how quickly he can make things change when the President demands it by booking Josh Hokit vs Derrick Lewis in a matter of seconds on Saturday night, this newly-found interest in a new event name could see it changed again.
During a media event this morning, President Donald Trump was asked about the potential of changing the UFC White House event’s name from Freedom 250 to UFC 1776. This seemingly comical idea caught the imagination of the President, who seemed excited about the idea.
“That’s a good idea,” He replied when a reporter made the suggestion. “I’ll tell that to Dana White. I will say, I’ve been involved with a lot of big events but I’ve never had an event that has had more interest than the UFC that we have right on our front door.

President Trump just confirmed: A massive UFC fight is coming to the White House grounds on June 14th, and someone suggested they call it UFC 1776.
Trump loved it: “That’s a good idea. I’ll tell that to Dana… pic.twitter.com/hcW3Z3PJ61
“They’re going to start building about a 4,500-seat arena and then at the back at the Ellipse we’re going to have maybe about 50-100,000 people I guess.
“They’re building stages and you’re going to have massive screens to watch the fight. It’s a very popular sport – because of the White House and everything there’s a lot of reasons for it.”
He also invited a Doordash driver who had delivered an order to the White House for a photo opportunity and revealed that her husband is currently unwell. The President insisted that if he was feeling better that he could come to the event, which is said to be particularly exclusive.
